What is 3A1140 Adhesive?

italbeit has formulated a series of mastics and adhesives starting from highly selected raw materials. These products are used in the PRFV sector and are used in applications where, in addition to absolute adhesion between the fiberglass parts, the structural parts in general and the foams, low shrinkage is also required. The basic binder is made up of styrene resins of different nature, selected according to the use that the finished product must satisfy: water resistance, chemical resistance, better adhesion to the reinforcing fibres, wettability of the fillers present in the system , adhesion to the support on which they are used. They are supplied already accelerated, to be catalyzed with the types of peroxide normally in use, with variable gel time to meet the customer’s application needs or follow the seasonal trend, winter or summer. In many of them there is color changer, an additive that allows you to visually check the presence of peroxide and its perfect homogenization in the adhesive mastic.

Application models

All italbeit adhesive mastics have excellent spreadability and some of them are suitable for application with special systems equipped with pumping systems and catalysts. Before application, it is recommended, if necessary, to sand the surface of the PRFV products to eliminate any irregularities. It is also recommended to clean the surface of the PRFV structure with a rag soaked in styrene to eliminate traces of dust or other polluting agents that could compromise adhesion. Italbeit mastics and adhesives must be catalyzed with the type of catalyst indicated in the attached table and in the variable percentage between 1% and 2%. Depending on the quantities required, the gel times can be varied according to the needs of the individual user. Before subjecting the glued parts to stress, leave at least 24 hours at room temperature (15/25°C). We do not recommend gluing finished surfaces reinforced with mats or fabrics which, as known, reduce the adhesive characteristics (make adhesion more critical).
